Quantum, AI, and Business Strategy

This unit examines how emerging computing paradigms (NISQ and post‑NISQ quantum technologies) interact with AI to transform business operations, revenue models, and sector applications such as precision agriculture and intelligent transportation. It also addresses ethical governance, reliability, and risk management considerations to prepare students to design responsible, commercially viable implementations.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze emerging computing paradigms (NISQ, post‑NISQ, and quantum advantage) and explain their potential to amplify AI capabilities, including trade-offs in reliability, energy consumption, and security
• Evaluate ethical and governance challenges of opaque, quantum‑enabled AI systems and propose concrete mitigation strategies and human‑management settings to reduce bias and ensure accountable outcomes
• Apply unit concepts to design two high‑level business use cases (e.g., precision agriculture, intelligent transportation), articulating commercial near‑term impact, revenue opportunities, and a risk/feasibility assessment
• Demonstrate the ability to assess technical and operational constraints (decoherence, reliability, information‑energy tradeoffs, viral/attack vectors) and recommend deployment readiness and monitoring practices
