Interactive Web and App Programming

This unit develops foundational client-side programming skills and introduces basic mobile app concepts. Students learn to create responsive layouts with Flexbox and Bootstrap, write and read JavaScript for DOM/BOM manipulation, handle events and forms, use JSON for data interchange, and explore introductory Flutter/Dart and basic data validation and plotting workflows.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze DOM and BOM structures and relationships to plan and implement dynamic page updates using JavaScript and event handling
• Apply core programming constructs (variables, arrays, operators, loops, functions, closures, and objects) to build interactive, data-driven client-side components
• Demonstrate responsive UI techniques and framework/tool usage by implementing layouts with Flexbox and Bootstrap and creating simple Flutter widgets and Dart classes for cross-platform interfaces
• Evaluate data handling and validation strategies—including form handling, JSON interchange, structured flat-file access, and basic plotting choices—to select appropriate approaches for client-side applications
