Interactive Full-Stack Web Development

This unit develops the middle-tier skills needed to turn static pages into interactive, data-driven web applications. Students build client-side interactivity (HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery/AJAX), implement server-side logic (PHP, sessions, classes, MySQL), apply data-safety practices, and begin assembling application architecture (MVC, frameworks, scaffolds) in preparation for a capstone project.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and manipulate the Document Object Model and form data using JavaScript and jQuery to implement event-driven behaviors, client-side validation, and AJAX interactions
• Apply HTML5 and CSS3 techniques (box model, text areas, color systems, gradients, table and form styling, media embedding, drop-down lists) to produce usable, accessible interface components and dashboards
• Demonstrate server-side programming skills by writing PHP variables, functions, classes, session management, and MySQL queries (including advanced features) while applying secure data-handling practices
• Evaluate and modify application architecture and scaffolding by comparing MVC and N‑tier approaches, integrating PHP frameworks, handling errors, and designing object interactions for a maintainable full-stack application
