Global Logistics Resilience and Ethics

This unit synthesizes strategies for operational continuity, disaster response, and ethical global operations using real-world case studies and best practices. Students will integrate crisis planning, customer and workforce support, sustainability, technology, and regulatory considerations to prepare for complex international logistics challenges.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze risks to global supply chains and develop a Production Continuity of Operations (COOP) and data recovery plan that addresses dunnage, demurrage, damage, and government contract requirements
• Apply the phases of operational response to design and simulate a coordinated logistics support operation for a disaster scenario, including liaison with government and humanitarian agencies
• Evaluate international case studies to identify failures and best practices in cultural adaptation, ethical conduct, sustainability, inventory management, and the use of technology (e.g., RFID, platform-based services), and recommend corrective strategies
• Demonstrate stakeholder communication, customer education, and workforce compensation strategies for both routine and crisis operations, including policies for claims, compliance, and post-incident recovery
