This capstone unit consolidates operational skills, safety practices, troubleshooting, and regulatory knowledge needed for safe, compliant drone operations and Part 107 readiness. Learners refine decision-making under real-world constraints (weather, airspace, human factors) and practice preflight/postflight procedures and exam preparation.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze and accurately classify controlled, uncontrolled, and special‑use airspace (including Class G and MTRs), and complete required steps to register and prepare for the Part 107 exam
- Apply comprehensive preflight and postflight checklists and operational decision‑making in scenario simulations, incorporating battery management, GPS/VLOS/RTH procedures, weather assessment, and site selection
- Demonstrate troubleshooting and mitigation techniques for common technical issues and flight anomalies (battery life misconceptions, poor GPS, tilt/imbalance, obstacle avoidance failures, lighting and calibration problems) in hands‑on exercises
- Evaluate human factors and professional practices—including substance use effects, stress and confidence management, dress and night‑flying considerations, and test‑taking strategies—and implement mitigation plans during operations and exam preparation
