Foundations of Digital Nomadism

This unit introduces students to the digital nomad lifestyle by guiding self-assessment, income and expense planning, and early career decision-making. Students will explore routes to becoming a nomad, convert or transition work for remote delivery, and plan destination, housing, health, productivity, and social strategies to prepare for successful travel-based work.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze personal values, passions, skills, and goals to determine readiness for the digital nomad lifestyle and identify appropriate nomad pathways
• Calculate projected expenses and income needs using cost-of-living comparisons and produce a basic budget and decision rubric for whether to keep, convert, or leave a current job
• Create a practical work-from-anywhere transition plan that includes steps to convert a traditional role to remote work, a work-from-home schedule, approaches for negotiating with employers, and contingency housing/workspace options
• Evaluate and prioritize destination, housing, co-working/workspace, health, productivity, and social integration strategies that align with budget and professional objectives
