Foundations of Digital and AI Transformation

This unit establishes foundational concepts for using digital and AI as sustained sources of competitive advantage, introduces a domain-based approach to redesigning business and technology concurrently, and outlines the talent, organizational, and agile practices needed to launch transformation efforts. Learners will prepare a vision and practical plans that bridge strategy, emerging technologies (including generative AI), team design, and technical decoupling to enable deeper implementation in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze sources of digital and AI-driven competitive advantage and draft a concise vision that frames ongoing (‘Day 1’) transformation for a selected business domain
• Apply a domain-based approach to map business capabilities to technology components, including proposing decoupling strategies and assessing the impact of emerging technologies such as generative AI
• Design a talent strategy that distinguishes in-house versus outsourced needs, defines critical roles and a compelling employee value proposition, and outlines a talent team structure to build a digital organization
• Demonstrate how key agile ceremonies and organizational building blocks support performance, career paths, and professional development by producing an implementation outline to reimagine a business domain and its underlying technology
