DevOps Foundations and Culture

This unit introduces core DevOps principles, focusing on culture, waste reduction, measurement, and collaborative practices that enable reliable software delivery. Students will assess organizational health, design communication and feedback processes, and learn foundational testing and release practices that prepare them for automation and scaling in subsequent units.

• Analyze organizational culture and workflow to identify sources of waste using the seven types of waste and culture-assessment techniques
• Apply Lean and DevOps practices to design team structures, communication protocols, and customer feedback loops that support continuous integration and delivery
• Demonstrate foundational testing, release, and version-control communication techniques and implement process changes that reduce reliance on manual, error-prone steps
• Evaluate metrics, post-incident analyses, and prioritization methods to measure progress, inform improvements, and prepare for automation and scaling efforts
