Applied Deception Defense and Resilience

This capstone unit consolidates technical and human-centered defenses against AI-driven deception, emphasizing hands-on configuration, threat modeling, and community outreach. Students practice real-world scenarios, develop family and community guidance, and curate resources for continuous vigilance beyond the course.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze common AI-driven deception techniques and construct threat models that identify attackers’ means, motive, and opportunity for at least two realistic scenarios
• Apply technical defenses by configuring and testing at least three security controls (e.g., multi-factor authentication, endpoint protections, privacy settings) on personal or lab devices and documenting their effectiveness
• Demonstrate communication and outreach skills by creating and presenting a family- or community-focused security guide that includes top-five security tips and a practical incident response checklist
• Evaluate digital information sources, recommended readings, and ongoing training options to produce a prioritized personal continuing-education plan for staying current on AI-enabled threats
