Advanced Flight Operations and Imaging

This unit develops intermediate operational skills, mission planning, and aerial imaging techniques for safe, legal, and professional drone use. Students learn to assess environmental and regulatory constraints, manage aircraft systems and batteries, capture and edit high-quality footage, and evaluate approval pathways and industry applications.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze environmental, airspace, and operational constraints (weather, night, airports, populated areas) to create compliant, risk‑mitigated flight plans
• Apply camera, framing, frame‑rate, stabilization, FPV, and editing workflows to capture and produce publication‑quality aerial imagery and video
• Demonstrate preflight inspections, battery management, routine maintenance, and in‑field troubleshooting to ensure aircraft airworthiness and safe operation
• Evaluate regulatory approval processes and industry use cases (public use approvals, experimental certification, agriculture, events) to recommend compliant deployment and business strategies
