Implementation and Professional Practice

This capstone unit focuses on delivering, evaluating, and sustaining effective instructional designs across contexts (K–12, medical, informal) while attending to accessibility, technology, and learner interaction. Students will produce real-world deliverables, run implementation and debrief processes, and prepare career-ready artifacts and plans for entry into the instructional design field.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze learner contexts, delivery timelines, and technology options to select accessible, inclusive modalities suited to formal and informal instructional settings
• Apply instructional design strategies to create learner-centered activities that promote transfer, appropriate cognitive complexity, collaboration, and learning-by-doing
• Demonstrate implementation readiness by producing development-phase deliverables, managing real-time feedback and tech support plans, and using an implementation debrief checklist to evaluate effectiveness
• Evaluate personal career readiness by assessing common instructional design competencies, creating a portfolio of artifacts, and developing a professional networking and growth plan
