Mastering, Finalization, and Release

This capstone unit guides students through finalizing recordings for public release: mastering, preparing deliverables, and developing distribution and promotion plans. It also codifies ten practical recording and session-management tips to troubleshoot issues and optimize workflow for future projects.

• Analyze mixed tracks and apply mastering techniques to achieve consistent tonal balance, appropriate loudness levels, and translation across multiple playback systems
• Demonstrate preparation and export of final masters and deliverables by selecting correct sample rates, bit depth, file formats, and embedding metadata for streaming and physical distribution
• Evaluate distribution and promotion options and create a documented release plan that selects platforms, timelines, assets, and promotional tactics appropriate to a given project and target audience
