This unit guides students in developing a concise personal narrative and defining the scope of a professional portfolio or ‘book’ that communicates their pathway goals. Building on prior self-assessment work, students will create and align a My Story statement and a scope document to prepare for portfolio development and project work in the final unit.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze personal experiences, skills, values, and accomplishments to identify at least three themes that will shape a coherent professional narrative
- Apply narrative writing and oral presentation techniques to produce a 150–300 word My Story statement and a 60–90 second verbal pitch tailored to a specified target audience
- Demonstrate the ability to define the scope of a professional book/portfolio by producing a one-page scope document that includes purpose, target audience, a five-section outline, intended deliverables, and timeline constraints
- Evaluate and revise the My Story statement and scope document for alignment with pathway goals and upcoming portfolio requirements, documenting at least two revisions informed by feedback or a rubric
