Leading Responsible Technology and Culture

This capstone unit synthesizes emerging technology waves—web/search, social media, cloud, robotics—and frames them as enablers for sustainable, ethical business leadership. Students will integrate technical, ethical, and cultural strategies to design data-driven initiatives and organizational policies that prepare businesses for responsible innovation and real-world implementation.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze how Wave 5 (web/search), Wave 6 (social media and cloud), and Wave 7 (humanity-focused/robotics) technologies alter data flows, customer engagement, and strategic decision-making, using metrics and case studies to support conclusions.
• Apply principles of technology-as-enabler and AI/robotics to design a multi-year business initiative that advances sustainability goals, improves operational efficiency, and defines measurable data-driven KPIs.
• Demonstrate ethical leadership by developing a comprehensive policy brief that addresses privacy, algorithmic bias, workforce impacts, and moral considerations for deploying AI, automation, and social platforms in an organization.
• Evaluate an organization’s culture and communication practices and recommend an actionable plan to galvanize teams around responsible innovation, inclusive values, and sustainable impact, including digital stakeholder engagement tactics.
