This unit synthesizes children’s rights (identity, expression, health, education, and protection) and applies them to classroom practice, policy, and AI use. Students examine relevant articles, design safeguards and inclusive pedagogy, and assess AI tools for legal, ethical, and developmental alignment.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze the selected articles related to identity, expression, education, health, and protection to identify legal and ethical obligations for educators working with AI
- Apply rights-based and developmentally appropriate strategies to design inclusive lesson plans and school policies that reflect Articles 28, 29, 23, and related provisions
- Demonstrate protocols for safeguarding, reporting, and responding to harm, exploitation, or criminal behavior involving children (including scenarios from Articles 19, 34, 35, 36, and 40)
- Evaluate AI tools and classroom data practices for privacy, identity preservation, access to information, and freedom of expression in accordance with Articles 8, 13, 16, and 17
