Project Delivery and Site Solutions

This unit synthesizes site planning, project delivery, and alternative construction methods for residential self-build and renovation projects. Learners integrate regulatory, procurement, financing, and on-site systems (drainage, waterproofing, landscaping, privacy and eco-roofs) to prepare a ready-to-execute project package.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze site constraints, permitted development rights, neighbour and connectivity considerations to produce a compliant site plan that integrates drainage, privacy, access routes, and garden/landscape features.
• Apply building control, notification, insurance, warranty and self-build financing procedures to assemble a complete project paperwork system and communicate requirements to consultants, subcontractors, and neighbours.
• Evaluate alternative construction methods, materials, and suppliers (including timber frame, kit houses, eco-building systems, basements and loft conversions) using cost, sustainability, performance, and availability criteria to select appropriate solutions for a given project brief.
• Demonstrate planning and specification of on-site technical solutions—basement waterproofing, rainwater management, paths and hardscape, eco-roofs, and boundary/ security treatments—showing sequencing, safety considerations, and coordination with trade specialists.
