NCLEX Foundations and Test Readiness

This unit introduces students to the NCLEX-RN exam structure, state licensure requirements, and foundational clinical knowledge needed for safe entry-level nursing practice. Students will learn test-taking strategies, create a personalized study and application plan, and review core safety, prioritization, and assessment concepts that underpin subsequent clinical units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze NCLEX-RN structure, question types, client needs categories, and individual state/territory licensing requirements to determine personal eligibility and optimal timing to test
• Apply patient rights, safety practices, accident prevention, and disaster response principles to prioritize care and develop safe nursing plans
• Demonstrate interpretation of common laboratory values, recognition of normal versus abnormal findings, and verification steps before medication administration to identify priority nursing interventions
• Evaluate personal learning strengths and weaknesses and produce a detailed NCLEX study schedule and application checklist that incorporates practice-question strategies and remediation targets
