Interview Presence and Messaging

This unit builds advanced interview and personal-branding skills by teaching students how to craft targeted answers, present professional presence, and manage application and follow-up communications. Learners will practice message construction (including career-change explanations), nonverbal communication, and post-interview etiquette to increase hireability.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze common interview questions and employer signals (e.g., turnover inquiries, culture versus benefits) to identify appropriate lines of inquiry and information to emphasize in responses
• Apply the two key factors of an effective WDYWTWH response and construct STAR-based examples that clearly describe individual contributions for at least three common interview prompts, including one career-change scenario
• Demonstrate professional interview presence by practicing effective body language, executive-presence techniques, anxiety-reduction strategies, and contemporary interview etiquette during timed mock interviews
• Evaluate and revise application materials and post-interview communications (resumes, cover statements, thank-you and follow-up messages) for clarity, relevance, and alignment with employer needs
