Foundations of Hyperintelligent Systems

This unit examines the historical, biological, technological, and economic foundations that give rise to hyperintelligence, from the evolution of communication and trade to modern data infrastructures, AI, and biotechnology. Students investigate ethical, governance, and business implications to prepare for applied design and strategy work in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze major historical and biological milestones (e.g., language, printing, trade, brain development) and identify their concrete impacts on organizational structure and business models, citing at least three examples from the unit.
• Evaluate ethical dilemmas arising from hyperintelligent AI and genetic editing by applying at least two ethical frameworks to two unit case studies and justifying recommended courses of action.
• Apply data and systems-thinking methods to model how large-scale data infrastructures and tokenized data economies (e.g., Data Wall, Token Factories) influence decision quality, and propose measurable metrics to detect bias, robustness, and value flow.
• Demonstrate the ability to synthesize governance and economic mechanisms (e.g., DAOs, pharmaceutical innovation pathways, trade-triggered cascades) by producing a concise governance or business plan that addresses incentives, risk mitigation, and scalability for a hyperintelligence-enabled initiative.
