Foundations of Career Readiness

This unit introduces students to self-assessment, career exploration across multiple sectors, and the core skills needed to find and succeed in entry-level work. Students will learn to research careers and educational pathways, craft job-search documents, prepare for networking and interviews, and practice workplace readiness behaviors that support onboarding and early career success.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze personal strengths, interests, and values and map them to potential careers and college/credential pathways using sector-specific exemplars
• Evaluate postsecondary options and return-on-investment factors for targeted career paths and summarize trade-offs in a career plan
• Apply job-search technologies and professional communication techniques by creating a targeted resume, conducting effective online research, and developing a networking and interview preparation plan
• Demonstrate workplace readiness through time-management strategies, onboarding practices, professional presence (including combating imposter syndrome), and basic steps for pursuing self-employment
