Facilitation and Workplace Learning

This unit develops practical facilitation and implementation skills for talent development professionals, focusing on adult learning in classroom, virtual, and on-the-job settings, use of visuals and video, and managing participant behavior. Students learn to design learning experiences, apply post-training follow-up and evaluation (Kirkpatrick and ROI), and align their professional role with industry capability models to sustain workplace learning.

Learning Objectives

• analyze adult learning principles and modality-specific strategies to design and adapt facilitation for classroom, virtual, and on-the-job delivery
• apply facilitation techniques—including participant preparation, managing disruptive behaviors, effective visuals, and basic video creation—to deliver engaging learning experiences
• demonstrate post-training follow-up and evaluation methods (Kirkpatrick levels, ROI calculations, and accountability structures) to measure transfer and sustainment of learning
• evaluate personal talent development capabilities against ATD’s model and create a targeted professional development plan to improve facilitation effectiveness
