Equity, Ethics, and Professional Growth

This capstone unit synthesizes responsible AI practices for K–12 educators, focusing on digital citizenship, equity of access, student privacy, and strategies to identify and mitigate misinformation and bias. It prepares educators to implement equitable AI-enhanced instruction, protect learner data, and maintain ongoing professional growth and adaptive practice.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze classroom case studies of AI use to identify digital citizenship concerns, instances of misinformation or bias, and ethical implications, and propose at least three evidence-based mitigation strategies for each case
• Apply equity-centered design principles to develop a classroom implementation plan that reduces achievement gaps and addresses the digital divide, including specific accommodations, resource allocation, and measurable success indicators
• Demonstrate the ability to implement student privacy and data-security protocols by completing a standards-aligned checklist and configuring an AI tool with documented safeguards compliant with applicable privacy requirements
• Evaluate current personal and school-level AI competencies and produce a measurable professional development plan that includes goals for refining AI-generated content, adapting to emerging technologies, and strategies for ongoing bias detection and correction
