Advanced WordPress Site Management

This unit covers advanced WordPress configuration, customization, content workflows, and site maintenance tasks. Students will extend themes and posts with custom styles, multimedia, taxonomies, and menus while managing plugins, multisite/network installation, migrations, backups, privacy compliance, and SEO to prepare sites for production.

Learning Objectives

• Apply advanced theme and presentation techniques (custom styles for sticky/category/tag posts, font/color changes, widgets, and navigation menus) to implement a consistent site design
• Demonstrate content creation and formatting workflows using the block editor by inserting and configuring audio and video files, refining post options, and using tags and parameters for sidebars
• Configure and manage plugins, manual plugin/theme installations, WordPress upgrades, multisite/network setup, migration, backup (BackupBuddy) and privacy/SEO tools (Cookie Notice, Yoast) to maintain site functionality, security, and compliance
• Evaluate deployment and maintenance strategies by analyzing import/export and migration processes, testing upgrade and backup plans, and troubleshooting installation or compatibility issues
