Advanced Web Coding Capstone

This capstone unit integrates advanced client- and server-side skills needed to build, secure, debug, and deploy interactive web applications. Students deepen their ability to manipulate data and the DOM, harden authentication and session handling, validate accessibility, and use developer tools to diagnose and resolve real-world problems in preparation for further coursework or industry entry.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and debug client- and server-side code to identify and resolve common JavaScript errors, infinite-loop conditions, and logic faults using browser consoles, devtools, and systematic debugging strategies
• Apply secure development and deployment practices by implementing password hashing, configuring PHP sessions and secure directory structures, and deploying static sites with appropriate file and credential protections
• Demonstrate accessible and usable web interfaces by implementing semantic markup, keyboard-friendly controls, sufficient color contrast, ARIA where appropriate, and validating accessibility with automated and manual testing methods
• Manipulate and integrate data structures, form controls, DOM attributes, and event-driven behavior by working with arrays, PHP objects, selection lists, radio/checkbox inputs, event listeners (including anonymous and arrow functions), and CSS selectors/positioning to create interactive, maintainable components
