Dynamic Client‑Server Scripting

This unit develops foundational client- and server-side programming skills for building dynamic web pages. Students will apply JavaScript for control flow, DOM manipulation, events, and web storage, and use PHP and MySQL to generate and secure dynamic content while addressing responsive and accessible design considerations.

Learning Objectives

• Apply JavaScript control structures, functions, and looping techniques to create interactive client-side behaviors and manipulate the DOM.
• Demonstrate event-driven programming and state management by creating event handlers, preventing default actions, and storing and retrieving data using Web Storage.
• Implement server-side scripts using PHP to control program flow, separate credentials, query MySQL databases, and generate HTML templates for dynamic pages.
• Evaluate and apply security and accessibility best practices, including escaping outgoing data, securing file uploads, and making images and text responsive and accessible for mobile-first delivery.
