AI Tooling and Capstone Integration

This concluding unit synthesizes prior foundations to teach students how to pair with, evaluate, and apply a range of AI tools across the software development lifecycle. Learners will build and deploy a functional chatbot, practice AI-assisted coding and debugging workflows, and critique tools for limitations, bias, and accessibility to prepare for responsible, continued practice.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze real-world development scenarios to select appropriate AI tools (e.g., Codeium, IntelliCode, Sourcery) and justify selections based on task fit, reliability, and constraints
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to produce, debug, and optimize code by integrating at least two coding assistants (e.g., GitHub-like copilots, Codeium, Sourcery) into a development environment
• Demonstrate the design, implementation, and basic deployment of a conversational agent using OpenAI APIs or equivalent platforms, including prompt engineering and testing
• Evaluate AI tools and learning resources (e.g., Claude, fast.ai, Microsoft Learn, UserWay) for limitations, bias, accessibility, and ethical risks, and propose concrete mitigation strategies
