AI Deception & Countermeasures

This capstone unit examines advanced forms of AI-driven deception, from artificial superintelligence and cognitive integration to physical embodiment and echo-chamber amplification, and pairs conceptual risk analysis with hands-on, ethical proof-of-concept exercises. Students will synthesize technical tactics (browser emulation/automation and POC exploitation) with governance, incident response, and international partnership strategies to design defensible mitigation plans.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze advanced AI-driven deception scenarios—including artificial superintelligence, singularity concepts, brain–computer interfaces, physical embodiment, and echo-chamber dynamics—to identify attack vectors, adversary objectives, and potential organizational impacts
• Apply controlled browser emulation and automation techniques to execute documented, ethical proof-of-concept assessments (credential harvesting, wire fraud, and Social Security Administration impersonation) in a lab environment, collecting measurable performance and forensic artifacts
• Demonstrate the creation of tactical mitigation strategies and AI risk management plans—incorporating model shutdown protocols, monitoring/alerting, incident response playbooks, and cross-border partnership mechanisms—to stop or contain runaway AI-driven campaigns
• Evaluate ethical, legal, and policy implications of deploying and defending against AI-enabled social engineering and produce a compliance-aligned stakeholder communication and global collaboration proposal addressing privacy, attribution, and regulatory coordination
