This capstone unit synthesizes front-end, back-end, and mobile development skills to build interactive, data-driven web and mobile applications. Students practice DOM manipulation, JavaScript programming patterns, data access/cleaning, responsive UI design, and integration of routes and services to produce deployable sample projects.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze and debug front-end and mobile code by diagnosing DOM selection, event handling, scope, and state issues to restore intended functionality in interactive UI components
- Apply object-oriented and functional programming concepts (methods, return values, inheritance, anonymous functions, const, and arrays) to design modular, reusable code for web and mobile features
- Demonstrate integration of external data sources by accessing, filtering, and cleaning web and NoSQL data, handling missing values, and passing data between application components and routes
- Evaluate and implement responsive and platform-appropriate UI/UX (Bootstrap, Android Studio device sizing, form controls, drag-and-drop, and element creation/appending) and document code with comments to produce a deployable sample application
