PowerPoint Fundamentals and Copilot

This unit introduces foundational Microsoft 365 PowerPoint skills, including the Backstage interface, Copilot-generated content, slide design, and multimedia elements. Students will learn to create, format, collaborate on, and export presentations, establishing best practices that prepare them for more advanced animation, accessibility, and portfolio work in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate the ability to create, save, and export a multi-slide PowerPoint presentation using Backstage features and PDF export while aligning slides to a stated presentation goal.
• Apply Microsoft Copilot and the Copilot sidebar to generate, refine, and iterate slide content and select appropriate templates, themes, and Copilot settings to meet specified objectives.
• Analyze and implement visual elements—including text formatting, masters/themes, images, charts, SmartArt, tables, audio, and video—to ensure legibility, consistency, and effective communication across slides.
• Evaluate collaboration and workflow practices by using sharing, comments, versioning, and review features and by following file management and accessibility best practices to prepare a presentation for delivery and publication.
