This unit teaches students to structure semantic HTML5 pages, apply CSS styling and effects, and incorporate web-optimized media assets using industry tools. Students will use Dreamweaver CS6, Fireworks, and Photoshop to build accessible, visually engaging pages and prepare media (images, buttons, audio, and video) for web delivery.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze and implement semantic HTML5 structures (e.g., header, nav, section, article, footer) to create accessible and well-organized web pages.
- Apply CSS techniques—including text styling, selectors, layout fundamentals, and CSS3 transforms/transitions—to design and refine page appearance and integrate stylesheet management in Dreamweaver CS6.
- Demonstrate creation, optimization, and export of web media (images, buttons, banners) using Fireworks and Photoshop, and encode/embed audio and video using HTML5
- Evaluate page designs for accessibility, performance (file size and compression), and cross-browser compatibility, and implement iterative improvements based on testing results.
