Foundations of Web & Mobile Coding

This unit introduces core coding concepts, web technologies, and basic cross‑platform mobile development tools that students will use throughout the pathway. Students will learn to build, view, and style responsive web pages, add client‑side interactivity with JavaScript, start a Flutter project with Dart, and perform introductory data tasks supporting applications.

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate how to create and display web pages on desktop and mobile devices using HTML and CSS, implement responsive layouts, and apply Bootstrap components to adapt layouts across screen sizes
• Apply JavaScript fundamentals—variables, arrays/lists, conditionals, functions, and objects—to manipulate the DOM, handle events, implement callbacks, and perform simple asynchronous (AJAX) requests
• Create and run a basic Flutter project: initialize the project, implement widgets and a stateful floating action button, extend Dart classes, and set up a simple animation scaffold
• Analyze the roles of hardware, software, and common data tools (Anaconda, NumPy, pandas) and demonstrate uploading, sampling, and plotting a simple dataset to inform application features
