Mastering Professional Networking

This capstone unit synthesizes advanced interpersonal and networking techniques to strengthen, sustain, and ethically manage professional relationships. Students refine listening, recall, follow-up, organization, and outreach strategies while identifying and correcting common networking mistakes to sustain a productive network.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze personal networking interactions to identify strengths and weaknesses in listening, recall, follow-up, and organization using a provided rubric
• Apply advanced listening and memory techniques (laser listening, sensory association, name-association) to accurately recall details for at least five new contacts during role-play or field networking events
• Demonstrate consistent, ethical relationship management by creating and implementing a 90-day follow-up plan with measurable touchpoints and documented giver/receiver activities
• Evaluate common networking errors (overselling, monopolizing conversation, insincerity, neglect) and develop corrective strategies to maintain professional rapport and expand a managed contact list of at least 25 entries
