Closing, Communication, and Leadership

This capstone unit synthesizes advanced interpersonal, ethical, and project communication skills needed to close agreements, lead without formal authority, and sustain motivated teams. Students practice audience analysis, persuasive presentations, project communications planning, and trust-building techniques to prepare for workplace leadership and career readiness.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze stakeholder authority, power, interest, and listening cues to produce an audience assessment that recommends tailored messaging and closing strategies.
• Apply structured verbal and nonverbal techniques (introductions, middles, conclusions, facial expressions, gestures) by delivering a persuasive presentation that demonstrates an effective close and meets rubric criteria.
• Create a project communications management plan and scope statement that defines stakeholder roles, channels, frequency, escalation paths, and closing criteria, and justify selections in a written rationale aligned with ethical standards.
• Evaluate trust-building, vision-setting, and motivational strategies to develop an action plan for leading without formal authority, addressing barriers to closing, and fostering a continuous learning environment.
