Core Java Programming Constructs

This unit builds foundational Java skills by examining program structure, data representation, operators, control flow, basic object-oriented concepts, arrays, file I/O, and simple GUI interactions. Students will develop, test, and debug small Java programs that combine these elements to solve problems and prepare for more advanced software development topics.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the elements and structure of a Java program, including data types, literals, and binary representation, to explain how code is organized and executed
• Apply operators, conditional statements (if, switch), and loop constructs (do) to implement correct program logic and control flow in Java
• Demonstrate basic object-oriented programming by creating classes and objects, invoking methods, and using arrays to store and manipulate collections of data
• Evaluate and implement simple disk-oriented input/output and event-driven GUI interactions (drag-and-drop, file handling), and use debugging strategies to identify and fix program errors
