This unit introduces core UX concepts, the stages of the UX process, and the reasons organizations use UX. Students will learn techniques for identifying users, modeling experiences with basic artifacts, and understanding how UX evolves to prepare for applied design and research work in subsequent units.

- Analyze the principles and stages of the UX design process and explain how each stage contributes to user-centered outcomes
- Evaluate business, ethical, and usability rationales for employing UX methods to justify their application in design projects
- Apply basic user research techniques to identify target users, document needs and pain points, and synthesize findings into personas or empathy artifacts
