Microsoft Copilot Studio Foundations

This unit introduces generative AI fundamentals, the OpenAI–Microsoft relationship, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and the scope of Microsoft’s Copilot portfolio. Learners are oriented to Copilot Studio—its audience, platform, and prerequisites—and guided to create a first basic agent to prepare for deeper development in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze the GenAI landscape and Microsoft’s strategic role by comparing the OpenAI partnership, Microsoft M365 Copilot, and the broader Copilot portfolio
• Demonstrate understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) by applying RAG concepts to design a simple knowledge-retrieval strategy for a Copilot scenario
• Evaluate how company personas and target audiences influence Copilot alignment by mapping at least two persona requirements to Copilot behaviors and content constraints
• Create and deploy a basic agent in Copilot Studio by meeting platform prerequisites, configuring core settings, and implementing initial actions
