Emerging Technologies and Cybersecurity

This unit examines how artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, 5G, and quantum technologies reshape cybersecurity, privacy, and ethical considerations, and explores both defensive and adversarial uses of these technologies. Students synthesize technical, ethical, and managerial concepts to develop incident response measures and a concise cyber risk management plan for emerging-technology threats.

• Analyze how AI, big data, IoT, 5G, and quantum technologies alter the cybersecurity threat landscape and expand attack surfaces, citing specific vulnerabilities and attack vectors
• Evaluate the ethical, legal, and privacy implications of deploying AI and generative models in cybersecurity and healthcare contexts, and recommend mitigation strategies aligned with regulatory frameworks
• Apply threat-detection and incident-response techniques to simulated scenarios involving AI-enabled attacks, IoT/5G exploits, and quantum-related risks, producing documented response actions and timelines
