Blockchain Operations and Risk Management

This capstone unit focuses on practical, operational skills and risk management for blockchain use in financial and industry contexts. Students will learn secure wallet and transaction practices, governance and validator participation, token creation and evaluation, and how to assess third-party services and developer resources to prepare for real-world implementation or further study.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze validator selection processes, blockchain alliance models, and DAO governance structures to recommend participation strategies that balance decentralization, security, and rewards
• Apply secure key management and wallet procedures—including creating a paper wallet and following transaction verification workflows—to complete simulated transfers without exposing private keys
• Demonstrate the creation and deployment of a basic ERC-20 token on a testnet and evaluate token utility and project viability using case studies (e.g., Enjin, Star Atlas, Metahero, Bloktopia)
• Evaluate the trustworthiness of exchanges, marketplaces, and informational resources, and identify qualified blockchain developers and community supports to guide ethical, compliant implementation and ongoing learning
