Measuring and Communicating Inclusion

This unit introduces core methods for measuring diversity, inclusion, and well-being and for turning people data into trustworthy, actionable stories. It builds foundational measurement and storytelling skills that reinforce earlier concepts and prepare students to design interventions and evaluate impact in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze quantitative and qualitative measures of diversity, inclusion, and well-being—selecting appropriate metrics and interpreting passive data sources for given organizational scenarios
• Apply focus groups, in-depth interviews, and text analytics techniques to collect, code, and synthesize qualitative people data into clear evidence
• Demonstrate responsible integration of AI and automated text analytics in people measurement by identifying algorithmic bias, privacy risks, and mitigation strategies to maintain trust
• Evaluate and construct persuasive people-data narratives and action plans using visualization best practices, the Three Cs framework (clarity, context, credibility), and change-management strategies to influence stakeholders while avoiding common pitfalls
