AI Integration in Project Planning

This unit explores how AI models—especially ChatGPT and multimodal systems—can be tuned, prompted, and securely integrated into the initiating and planning phases of projects. Students will practice prompt engineering, produce PM artifacts, and assess ethical, privacy, and risk considerations to prepare for deeper implementation in subsequent units.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze trade-offs among AI model choices (including fine-tuning and multimodal options) and limitations such as token/words-per-interaction by comparing at least two model configurations and documenting impacts on accuracy, cost, and latency
• Apply prompt engineering techniques with ChatGPT to produce three project management artifacts (e.g., meeting agendas, project plans, status summaries) that meet given quality and clarity criteria
• Demonstrate secure AI implementation strategies by designing an integration checklist that addresses data handling, model selection, access controls, and alignment with organizational policies
• Evaluate ethical and decision-making risks of predictive AI in project management and recommend governance practices and mitigation steps for the initiating and planning phases
