Professional Presence and Interview Prep

This unit develops learners’ application materials, interview skills, and workplace transition strategies to advance job search and career-change goals. Students refine résumés/CVs and references, practice verbal and nonverbal presentation techniques, and apply diversified job-finding and follow-up strategies while preparing for successful onboarding and career progression.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and revise personal résumés/CVs, cover letters, and application materials using accomplishment-based formats, objective/summary choices, and strategies to address employment gaps and unpaid work
• Demonstrate effective interview and presentation techniques—including body positioning, paralanguage, timing, handling nervousness, and managing hostile or challenging questions—through mock interviews and assessment tasks
• Apply diversified job-search strategies and follow-up practices, including networking, reference preparation, contact management, and use of paid and unpaid work worksheets to broaden job-finding options
• Evaluate workplace-transition and career-change tactics to manage supervisors, gain recognition, overcome limiting beliefs, and plan a strong start in new roles
