Foundations of Data & AI Strategy

This unit establishes the foundational assessment and planning work required to design high-impact Data & AI initiatives. Students will assess organizational readiness, inventory data and technical assets, identify and prioritize use cases, and document stakeholder, legal, and standards constraints to produce an initial strategic plan and implementation roadmap that prepares the organization for safe, compliant AI deployments.

Learning Objectives

• Analyze and classify at least five potential AI and data-driven use cases into quick-win and strategic-win categories based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with business goals.
• Evaluate and produce a current-state Process-Organization-Technology-Information (POTI) model and a data maturity assessment that identifies at least three gaps in data inventory, quality, or infrastructure.
• Document and segment stakeholders, map applicable legal, regulatory, and standards requirements, and produce a compliance and stakeholder-requirements checklist to inform AI deployment decisions.
• Create a technical strategic plan and a prioritized implementation roadmap that outlines at least three phased initiatives, required technical assessments, success metrics, and estimated resource responsibilities.
